The Cleanliness Week organised by the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) concluded on Wednesday, October 21, with resolve to maintain high standards of cleanliness. The campaign was held in line with the directives of the Military Lands and Cantonments Department.
The Cleanliness Week activities commenced on October 13 with a walk at the Clifton beach. The campaign was originally planned to conclude on October 18; however, after witnessing immense public interest and participation, it was extended to October 21.
Members of civil society, public representatives, artists, students and citizens from various walks of life actively participated in the cleanliness activities across Clifton Cantonment. They appreciated CBC’s initiatives and lauded the efforts of the CBC CEO to provide quality civic amenities and a clean and healthy environment in Clifton Cantonment. Residents’ associations, schools and non-governmental organisations also actively participated in the campaign and helped promote public awareness through special messages. CBC also released a special song in connection with the Cleanliness Week to promote public awareness about a clean and healthy environment.
During the Cleanliness Week, CBC’s Emergency Response Teams carried out extensive cleaning activities in both residential and commercial areas. CBC’s more than 200 sanitary staff members took part in the cleanliness drive, covering DHA Phases from 1 to 8, Clifton Blocks 8 and 9 as well as other localities of Clifton Cantonment. The closing ceremony highlighted the importance of public cooperation and participation in maintaining cleanliness, while reaffirming the commitment to continue comprehensive cleanliness measures effectively.
