On the directives of the Chief Executive Officer, Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC), Mohammad Omar Farooq Ali Malik, the Food Control Team carried out comprehensive food safety and hygiene inspections across several restaurants and food outlets located in Al-Murtaza Commercial Area, Phase VIII.
The inspection was conducted in line with CBC’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and under the provisions of the Cantonment Pure Food Act, 1966.
During the inspection, the Food Control Team undertook the following activities:
1. Examined the hygienic conditions of food preparation areas, utensils, and storage facilities. Several outlets were found maintaining poor hygiene standards, and expired food items were discovered and immediately discarded on-site.
2. Identified multiple businesses operating without valid food trade licenses from CBC, and food handlers were found working without mandatory medical fitness certificates.
3. The proprietors of the concerned restaurants and food outlets were formally directed to obtain medical certificates for all food handlers and to apply for valid food/trade licenses in accordance with CBC regulations.
As per the violations observed, composition and fines have been imposed on the defaulters in accordance with the Cantonment Pure Food Act, 1966, and they have been instructed to strictly comply with all CBC food safety SOPs. CBC remains committed to ensuring public health and food safety within its jurisdiction and urges all food businesses to maintain high standards of hygiene, proper licensing, and compliance with the law.
