On the special directives of the Chief Executive Officer of the Cantonment Board Clifton, the Food Control Team conducted comprehensive food safety and hygiene inspections across several restaurants and food outlets in Khadda Market, Phase-V, in accordance with CBC’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
During the inspection, the Food Control Team carried out detailed checking of food quality, hygiene, and cleanliness standards, as well as compliance with Cantonment Pure Food Act, 1966.
Key Findings:
1. Several establishments were found maintaining unsatisfactory hygienic conditions, including unclean utensils and improper food handling practices. Expired food items were discovered and subsequently discarded on the spot.
2. A number of food outlets were found operating without valid Food Trade Licenses issued by the Cantonment Board Clifton. Additionally, several food handlers were found without valid medical fitness certificates, which is a mandatory requirement under CBC regulations.
3. All restaurant and outlet owners were instructed to obtain medical fitness certificates for their food handlers and apply for Food Trade Licenses from CBC without delay to ensure compliance with the Cantonment Pure Food Act and CBC SOPs.
4. Composition / fines were imposed on defaulters in accordance with the Cantonment Pure Food Act, 1966, for violations related to hygiene, expired food items, and non-compliance with licensing requirements.
The CBC reaffirms its commitment to ensuring public health and food safety across all areas under its jurisdiction. Regular inspections will continue to ensure that all food establishments maintain proper standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food quality as per the prescribed regulations.
