CBC fines Ocean Super Mart for selling expired food items

The Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) continues its commitment to ensuring public health and food safety standards within its jurisdiction. Acting upon a complaint received from a resident (CBC Complaint ID No. 1441235) against M/s. Ocean Super Mart, located at 22-C, Badar Commercial, Phase-V, DHA, the CBC Food Control Team conducted an inspection of the premises on October 16, 2025.

The inspection was carried out on the special directives of the CEO, CBC Mohammad Omar Farooq Ali Malik, who has emphasized strict enforcement of health, hygiene, and licensing regulations across all commercial establishments within the cantonment limits.

  • During the inspection, several violations of public health and licensing standards were observed, including absence of a valid trade licence, staff members found with long and unhygienic nails.
  • Also, expired food items discovered on display shelves and in refrigerators.
  • Moreover, lack of valid medical fitness certificates for food-handling staff also emerged.

In view of these serious violations, the CBC imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000/- on the management of M/s. Ocean Super Mart. The outlet has been directed to rectify all deficiencies and ensure full compliance with CBC’s health, hygiene, and licensing requirements. The Cantonment Board Clifton reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards practices that endanger public health and assures residents that such inspections will continue regularly under the supervision and guidance of the CEO, CBC.
